After several months of negotiation, Canada’s federal, provincial, and territorial Ministers of Agriculture have agreed to remove the reference margin limit for AgriStability. As this is a substantial change to the program, the enrolment deadline for the 2021 program year was extended to June 30, 2021.

Interim payments increased for 2021

On July 22, 2021, the governments of Canada and Alberta announced that producers enrolled in AgriStability who trigger an interim benefit will receive 75 per cent of the estimated benefit. This increase from 50 to 75 per cent is intended to assist producers with their cash-flow.
