To save valuable time, please take a moment to review these guidelines to help determine if your application meets our criteria. 

AFSC receives numerous applications that don’t align with our criteria, and regrettably, we cannot accommodate them.  

Application intakes and timelines 

AFSC accepts new applications for sponsorship funding through our online intake form, annually, from December 1 to February 15.  

Successful applications will be notified by the end of April. 

AFSC does not process applications submitted via mail, phone, fax, or email. Responses will not be provided for applications submitted through these channels. 

Eligibility criteria

AFSC’s sponsorship activities involve strategic partnerships with an organization or event that relates to AFSC audiences and goals. The main goal is marketing, and success is measured by the return on investment to AFSC in brand awareness, business connections, and audience reach. Sponsors receive benefits and the cost of sponsorship can be treated as a business expense. 

Areas of focus 

AFSC believes supporting organizations and initiatives that generate clear and demonstrable value to the communities in which we operate, live and work, and align with the following focus areas:

  • Agriculture: supporting the business of, or the advancement of agriculture, agribusiness and the agri-food industry, or the next generation of agriculture. 
  • Education, Outreach & Training: supporting initiatives and services that contribute to education, awareness and increased knowledge related to agriculture, agriculture financial literacy and agriculture risk management. 
  • Community Well-Being: initiatives that uniquely engage our local operating areas, build community capacity, and/or contribute to healthy vibrant agriculture communities and workplace environments. 

Additionally, all investments recognize AFSC’s purpose and values, strategic priorities and support development, growth and competitiveness of the agriculture sector in Alberta.  

Lastly, whenever possible, AFSC looks to build synergies and connections back to its core business and product objectives, ultimately helping to serve and protect our clients’ businesses and grow our agriculture community. Some of AFSC’s key products include Crop Insurance, Agribusiness and Next Generation loans. 

AFSC’s Sponsorship & Community Investment program does not support: 

  • Events/ programs occurring outside of Alberta, even if there will be attendance of Albertans 
  • Individuals, employees or their family members with donations or personal support (eg: fees to programs, equipment, single person support, teams) 
  • Events where alcohol is the focus or a portion of an event focused on alcohol (eg: wine nights, bars at events, beer golf holes, alcohol raffles) 
  • Churches or religious affiliations directly  
  • Funding for capital campaigns (brick-and-mortar projects) or facility capital costs 
  • Film, video, television or book productions 
  • Mass mailings or solicitations or advertising activities 
  • Projects that are part of the ongoing responsibility of governments (e.g. schools, municipal programs) 
  • Educational institutions and schools, except for initiatives that fall outside of general expenses 
  • Amateur sport (eg: bull-a-ramas, ladies barrel racing, golf tournament, curling bonspiels)
