At AFSC, we're proud of our people and the work we do to help build a strong, growing and diversified agriculture and agri-food industry in Alberta. We value our team members and support personal growth and diversity, mental and physical wellbeing and foster a supportive and respectful environment.

Our Culture

AFSC is striving to be a diverse, inclusive employer where each team member is valued and heard. We value trust, integrity, accountability, respect, inclusion, equity and diversity. We believe that when we empower and support one another we can achieve great things.

We work together to provide client-focused financial and risk-management solutions which will help grow agriculture and agribusiness in Alberta.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

At AFSC, we recognize the importance of creating an environment where we can all be ourselves. Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy includes an Inclusion Council to help guide our path forward. This council, in partnership with the People and Culture team, ensures we are moving in the right direction with our diversity, equity and inclusion activities at AFSC.

Making Mental Health a Priority

We recognize our people as being core to our success. To fully do so, we need to prioritize the well-being and mental health of our employees. To help ensure our employees have the support they need, AFSC launched its mental health strategy, It’s Okay to Not be Okay. We are focused on destigmatizing mental illness and providing our people with the tools and resources they need to maintain positive mental health.

Advancement Opportunities: AFSC believes in developing its staff members and encouraging them to grow and pursue new opportunities within the Corporation.

Health Coverage: Employees receive health coverage on their first day of employment including extended medical, dental and vision benefits.

Pension: Salaried employees contribute to the Public Service Pension Plan (PSPP) according to the contribution percentage set by the plan. AFSC matches each contribution so you can have those extra funds available when you retire.

Health Spending Account: To complement our traditional group benefits plan, we offer a $950 health spending account.

In-House Training: Staff are encouraged to enhance or upgrade their knowledge and skills.

Competitive Compensation: As an employer of choice, AFSC benefits from the ability to attract and retain high quality employees by providing competitive compensation.

Special Leave: To aid in work/life balance, each employee gets a bank of 10 days for special leave – to take time off at Christmas, three personal leave days, and the rest to use for family illness, elder care, bereavement, and community service.

Employee and Family Assistance Program: Mental health is a huge part of our daily wellness. Each employee has confidential access to counsellors through Homewood Health.

Vacation: New employees receive a vacation grant of five days in their first year – because it’s hard to go a full year without vacation. Did we mention above that you also get three personal leave days and time off during the Christmas holidays?
