Working in agriculture requires the ability to withstand unpredictable events. To protect producers from designated perils that lead to production loss, Agriculture Financial Services (AFSC) provides a suite of insurance programs.

These programs provide:

  • protection for producers from financial losses due to circumstances beyond their control
  • coverage for many types of operations including commercial, organic, pedigreed seed and specialty cropping.

Annual crop insurance is offered as part of the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership between the province and the federal government.

What’s new for 2026

Silage Greenfeed Lack of Moisture: Historical precipitation normals for the Silage Greenfeed Lack of Moisture program have been updated to account for the extreme temperatures and minimum daily moisture thresholds that were introduced in recent years. This has resulted in slight adjustments to the Normal Moisture for most weather stations.
