AFSC clients have raised concerns with the performance of Moisture Deficiency Insurance program this year. We are holding a series of Input Advisory Group meetings in early November to gather feedback on potential changes to the program for the 2022 crop year.

This year, a substantial number of clients expressed concerns with the effectiveness of the program and that the indemnities did not reflect the conditions they experienced on their farm and did not take into account the extreme heat and drying winds. In addition, late August rainfalls significantly decreased the crop insurance indemnity payments under Pasture – Moisture Deficiency Insurance Program.

The virtual meetings will focus on how to account for extreme heat events and changing weather patterns and how to make the program more reflective of what happens on the insured fields.
