A joint Canada-Alberta AgriRecovery initiative compensates producers for the extraordinary cost of holding market-ready hogs on maintenance rations due to reduced processing capacity.

A set-aside program for the hog sector has been developed through AgriRecovery. The Canada-Alberta Hog Recovery Initiative will pay producers $0.95 per day per animal to cover the costs of keeping these market-ready animals on maintenance rations.
