Producers affected by wet conditions and other challenges can enrol in AgriStability through late participation.
The governments of Alberta and Canada reopened the program in recognition of the wet conditions that have affected many farmers and ranchers since the April 30 enrolment deadline. This gives affected producers more time to review and manage the business risks associated with these challenging situations.
Alberta producers can sign up for AgriStability until October 1, 2026. Participants who enrol through late participation, and qualify for a benefit, will have their benefit reduced by 20 per cent.
AgriStability protects Canadian producers against large declines in farming income due to production loss, increased costs and market conditions. The program is offered through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP), which is a shared commitment between federal, provincial and territorial governments.
Enrolment information
It takes a few steps to enrol in AgriStability under late participation:
- Complete the 2026 AgriStability Application for Fee Notice Form – Late Participation.pdf application by October 1, 2026
- Receive a Late Participant Enrolment Fee Notice. This notice will show a $300 non-refundable up-front fee. The fee is comprised of a $245 program fee plus a $55 administration fee. Any additional calculated fees will be deducted form the final program benefits, if applicable. If the final program benefits are zero, no additional fees will be charged to the participant.
- Pay the fee within 30 days of the issue date of Late Participation Enrolment Fee Notice. A late penalty of 20 per cent will be added to fees not paid by the due date.
Please note: If fees and any late penalties are not paid by the later of December 31, 2026 or 60 days after the fee notice is issued, you will be deemed ineligible for the 2026 program year. Any outstanding fee and penalties would still be considered due.
If you change your mind about late participation, you must provide an opt out request by the due date noted on the fee notice.

The Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) is a $3.5-billion, five-year agreement, which runs April 1, 2023 to March 31, 2028. This agreement between the federal, provincial and territorial governments strengthens the competitiveness, innovation, and resiliency of the agriculture, agri‐food and agri‐based products sector.
